Team physician Dr. James Voos repaired damage to Chubb's left medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament during surgery on Friday, the Browns said. Chubb will have to undergo a second surgery in the coming months to repair his ACL. The loss of Chubb is a major blow to the Browns (2-1), who have leaned on him the past few seasons. He gained 106 yards in the season opener and had 64 on 10 carries against the Steelers before going down. Following last week's win over Tennessee, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski hand delivered a game ball to Chubb at home.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is in concussion protocol, putting his status in question for when Las Vegas visits the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. If Garoppolo can't play, the Raiders will go with 15-year veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell. The Raiders signed Garoppolo in the offseason after parting ways with nine-year starter Derek Carr, who now plays for the New Orleans Saints. McDaniels and Garoppolo have a history back to when both were with the New England Patriots, McDaniels as offensive coordinator and Garoppolo as Tom Brady's backup. “But that's playing quarterback in the NFL, and he's done it well before.”Like Garoppolo, Hoyer and McDaniels share a Patriots background.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick believes the hit that ended B rowns running back Nick Chubb's season on Monday night was unfortunate but not dirty. Chubb had Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb on his back when Fitzpatrick struck Chubb's left leg. “I’m a guy that is a competitor, that is going to go out there and play the game,” Fitzpatrick said Thursday. “It was an unfortunate hit. He made a decision to go low because he believed if he didn't, he was “going to get run over and I’m going to get concussed."

A Cleveland-area native, Hunt spent four seasons with the Browns before the team decided not to re-sign him this offseason. Hunt visited several teams over the summer but stayed in the area and was available. Hunt visited the Browns on Tuesday and the sides quickly worked out a deal. Hunt and Chubb once gave the Browns the top 1-2 running back tandem in the NFL. Hunt had a turbulent 2022 season with the Browns.
